Glancing Potential Mine Closure
Dozens of "nemo" dancing in between the reef at the coral reef when the researchers from the University of Lambumangkurat (Unlam) where is conducting activities around the port PT. Tunas Inti Abadi, a subsidiary of PT. Reswara Minergi Hartama part of ABM Group.
Nemo is a types of clown fish or clownfish are commonly found in the Red Sea region. Clown fish are usually found around coral reefs at a depth of 50 meters as well as clear water and live in groups. Uniquely, this fish can be found in the harbor area TIA with coal activities. This proves the commitment of the Group Reswara as an integrated mining company on the preservation of the environment. Group Reswara seriously implement the "good mining practices" throughout the operational area.
Unlam coral reef expert Ir. Suhaili Asmawi, MS said that TIA is not only concerned about the mainland region but also in the area of marine waters. Since 2010 TIA has also conducting various efforts to maintain and repair the underwater ecosystem.
Coral reefs are home to many species of fish is a natural potential possessed South Kalimantan and yet little known by the public nationally and internationally. However it has its own uniqueness when compared with other coral reefs in Indonesia. Coral reefs are spreaded in the south and east coast of the mainland island Kalimantan on a small island in the Kota baru and Tanah Bumbu which has a coastline of 158.7 km with around 330 hectares of coral reefs
In 2011, TIA first transplant coral reefs are located in Bajangan Atak and then proceed to the coral stone Batu Anjir and planning in 2016 TIA back to transplant coral reefs in Bajangan Atak and Bajangan Sebamban
TIA efforts were not in vain, as evidenced in 2011 and 2013 was very surprising. Starting in the 6th month transplantation has become a "home" consumption of fish and ornamental fish. Thanks to TIA, coral reefs Bajangan Atak, Bajangan Sebamban, and Batu Anjir can maintain the ecological functions as a place to live flora and fauna. Not only that, the economic function as a producer of fish consumption has also been evidenced by the many fish that settle in the area.
Suhaili expressed hope to other companies doing the same thing as TIA in order to become the tourism potential and also the marine research center in Indonesia.
In addition to preserving the underwater world, TIA also has coal reclaiming mined areas, forests that explored and managed as a coal mining area and has grown again with various types of plants.
Expected various potential of the area is maintained and continues to grow. TIA can create tourist areas and also research in the development of knowledge for future generations.
