The Sewatama Surabaya Depot was designed to store its genset fleet and also erves as a technical hub for its fleet maintenance activities as well as spare parts maintenance activities. It connects four other depots in Jakarta, Pekanbaru, Balikpapan and Batulicin. The Customer Contamination Control Compliance is a certification that deals with waste management systems according to standards set by Caterpillar.

"We aimed at classification 3, and attained classification 4," Mr. Yani Heroe SW, Head of General Affair & Facility Department Sewatama explained when asked about attaining the certification. The lower aim at the initial phase was due to the fact that the depot was positioned on rented land, previously used for a plastic factory.

"Had this been our own land, we could have adjusted better to the standards." Mr. Yani said. Nevertheless, this did not deter Depot Surabaya from doing its best.

Thanks to several alternative solutions in the form of infrastructure as well as procedural adjustments, the Sewatama team was able to meet 93,5 percent of the criteria in Customer Contamination Control Compliance by Caterpillar in a relatively short time.

Aside from evaluating infrastructure measurements, the audit also took a closer look at employee behavior while cleaning equipment. Here, several breakthroughs were achieved pertaining to behavior and habits of Sewatama employees.

Each year, Sewatama implements certification process for all its facilities as a company activity to maintain best practices, particularly in the area of health, safety & environment, for the improvement of company performance.
